How recovery progresses

  1. First 72 hours A feeling of pressure and tightness across the chest, rather than sharp pain. It is managed with the medication prescribed. You are asked to sleep on your back and not to lift anything heavy.
  2. Weeks 1 to 2 The discomfort clearly eases. Back to desk work towards the end of this period. The breasts look high and firm, still far from their final shape.
  3. Weeks 3 to 6 Normal life apart from impact exercise and work with the arms. The implant starts to drop into position and the breast softens.
  4. Months 2 to 4 Gradual return to exercise as advised. The shape now resembles the final one, and sensation, if it was altered, usually starts to return to normal.
  5. Around 6 to 12 months The result is taken as settled, with the scars mature. From here on it is a matter of long-term monitoring of the implant.

These are the indicative timings from the procedure page. Yours depend on your case and come from Dr. García.

The guides that apply to you

In this order: before, the day itself, and afterwards.

  1. 1 Before your surgery Tests, preparation and the decisions of the weeks beforehand. This is the stage you can influence the most.
  2. 2 The day of your surgery From the alarm clock to the operating room: fasting, documents, what to bring and what is going to happen.
  3. 3 Recovery and aftercare Wounds, drains, hygiene, rest and follow-up. What is normal, what is not, and who to call.
  4. 4 Food and nutrition What food actually does before and after, with no miracle diets and no lists of forbidden ingredients.
  5. 5 Compression garments What they are really for, how to choose the size, and how to look after them so they last as long as they should.
  6. 6 Specific aftercare Scars, sun, sleeping positions, exercise, going back to work, and the signs that do not wait for your next appointment.
